We are expats (Indian Origin) in the UK for different
reasons from studies through to work and business. The
first impressions that we got from our early experiences
here in the UK are:
Wow, how different the system /lifestyle is here: This
leading to some questions arousing in us
-
Why don't we have these facilities in our homeland?
-
Are we not deserved to have better living standards?
-
Are we underprivileged?
-
Don't we have the Human Resources or Natural Resources?
These are the uncertainties passing through our minds for
long with no certain answers. Except the understanding of
the Root Cause for these issues is Politics on which we
were hopeless as each one of us thinking I am just ONE.
It is likely getting worse than anyone has anticipated
with the ills of our society growing exponentially. The
magnitude of each ill is setting an example to itself.
Like, when the nethas (so called politicians) showing up
the bundles in the house and yet nothing concluded till
date. When the Mumbai attacks took place it was just news
for over a months time..yet none of these are our debating
topics for Media and Political Parties during the 2009
General Elections which proves the Obtuse characteristic
of our politicians.
In the year 2009 our fellow citizens are dying of cholera
just because of drinking drinking water which is a shame
and yet none is ready to take the responsibility. Out of 2
pictures we see that are used for charity in the western
world, 1 is from India which is a place having richest
persons consistently in the contemporary world. Again it
is a shame for us to see our brothers and sisters on these
pictures, when there is an absolute chance to eradicate
poverty.
Then each one of us noticed the noble efforts of LokSatta
Movement for over a decade and understood the necessity
for it to turn into a Political Institution. As Dr. JP
rightly said Indians are no different from anyone in the
world but our past has failed in building the Institutions
that take us in right path. Dr JP also conveyed that the
only antidote to bad politics is more politics and better
politics and reminded us of the practices of our legacy
Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. Now this is
not the time for us to "get use to" and watch the
perversion of our democracy.
Therefore, it is time for us to rise to that noble height
where the vision of a great and bright Motherland will be
the only reality before. If we are great ourselves in
thoughts and deeds, then alone we will be able to make our
motherland great. Thanks to the LokSatta that brought us
together on to this platform and now we are here to
support LokSatta's the only remaining HOPE.
